Gems and pricing

Shiny Gen is free to use, and no subscription is required. Building, playing, and sharing games costs nothing; AI generation spends gem credits. You can buy gem packs that never expire, or an optional membership that adds monthly gems.

What's free

• Making games: describing, building, and editing, including all code editing.
• Playing your games and games shared with you.
• Sharing games with links, downloading games as HTML, and importing your own images.

What uses gems

Gems are Shiny Gen's credit currency, and they are spent only on AI generation: images, sprite animations, 3D models, sound effects, and music. Each generation shows its gem cost before you run it, and your balance is always visible in the app.

Free gems

New accounts start with free gems.

Buying gems

• Gem packs: one-time purchases that never expire.
• Membership (optional): adds a monthly allocation of gems. You never need a membership to keep building, playing, or sharing.

AI assistants

This applies both to Shiny Gen's built-in AI agent and to an outside assistant you connect over MCP: code edits are free, and only AI generation the assistant runs spends your gems. A daily gem cap limits how much an assistant can spend in one day, and on the free tier a weekly allowance limits how many actions it can take — after a 30-day trial that starts at your first connection. Reading is never limited, and paid members are not subject to the weekly allowance. See Connect Claude or ChatGPT for the details.

Ownership and commercial use

You own the games and assets you create with Shiny Gen, and you can use them commercially. You grant Shiny Gen a license to host and display your content so sharing and publishing features work. See the Terms of Service for the exact terms.
